today's serious discussion

By 2/29/2008

so, this is marisa miller. she's sienna miller's sister. and she used to be the jcrew bathing suit model. remember? something has happened in her boob area since then, but we'll address that later.

so now she's everywhere. victoria's secret, cover of the sports illustrated swimsuit issue -- my AOL thing today even had a pictoral of her so we could get to know each other better.

but here's the thing. she's not working for me.

i was looking at victoria's secret for bathing suits, and i find one i like, click on it, and up pops this:
her whole...deal... makes me feel dirty for even considering this bathing suit. she takes a cute, normal bikini like this and makes it.... dirty. its the boobs, the abs, the tan, all of it. argh.

yes, she's gorgeous. and her body is fab. but its all too much for me.

and now i'm done posting pictures of girls in bikinis - there's been too much of it lately, i agree. moving on...

  1. i had that very same sort of "loss of innocence" thing when i saw her in si's swimsuit issue. i remember her with flip flops and modesty in jcrew. maybe a nice striped boat neck tea cover up or riviera style head scarf. i miss it.

  3. Oh I've always felt a sort of affinity with that model because once some guy said I look like her which is just the most ridiculous thing ever. I would only look like her if she ate baked goods for 6 months straight sequestered in a closet with no sunlight and maybe dyed her hair a dark auburn brown and had a baby so her skin weren't quite so supple. Then, yes, she would be my twin. And yes, she would no longer make you feel dirty while wearing swim suits because then she would never ever want to wear them again.

  4. I could get over the boobage and the come-hither smile if she would just SHUT HER LEGS. But all three together make a Mamix perfect storm.

  5. It's the tan. The tan scares me. Nobody can achieve that color naturally. I am believe she might have rolled in butter and popped herself in my oven to get that overbaked quality. Shame. The suit was so nice.

  9. sorry to be the guy who has to comment on the photo of the girl in the bikini... but i'm totally looking at it from a photographers standpoint... I promise! A couple of things:

    1. They are not sisters. Both are beautiful blondes and Milller is a very unique name, but they don't share genes. From what wikipedia tells me, Marisa changed her name to Miller and grew up in LA, Sienna was born a Miller and grew up in the UK.
    2. Victoria's secret is generally not the most conservative when it comes to their imagery. Probably the reason that many adolescent boys yearn for the day that their mom's VS catalogue comes in the mail (or so I've heard)
    3. Yes, she is a little on the "well done" side...
    4. I think the problem you are describing is mostly due to the open legs and "come hither" eyes. The cleavage is pretty standard for VS (you don't see too many flat chested VS models), but the piercing sex eyes and the "inviting" leg posture suggest something more than sunbathing on the beach...
    5. The fact that she was in JCrew and you liked it and is now in VS and you are scared just means shes a good model... she actually started as a model in Perfect 10... so they have to be real, to answer that question... she's on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue this month if you want to see more bathing suits that you probably will not want to try on (or paint on as the case may be..)

    that's all from this guy.

  10. wow, brett. point well taken.

i swore they were sisters - didn't i read they were doing a clothing line together?

is this my cousin-in-law brett? or another photographic brett?

  11. yep. it's the cuz. Sienna did start a fashion line with her sister, Savannah, not Marisa - whose real last name is Beretta... no wonder she changed it to Miller, Marisa Beretta... what were her parents thinking? Don't worry, I don't have all this knowledge in my head, credit goes to google/wikipedia. good luck with the bathing suit search.

  12. I think that Sienna Miller's stepmother is designer Kelly Hoppen.

  13. So, I sorta love Marisa. She's sort of the slutty Blake Lively (my version basically)

But damnit, Brett, you just ruined it by telling me she was in P10. damnit damnit damnit.

  14. I've just discovered your blog and love it! And then I saw this entry of yours and I was like, "O.mi.gosh. FINALLY -- someone who feels the same way I do about this model!!" I never knew who she was, but from the first time I saw her in a catalog, I just found... EXCESSIVE. Her... her... overdone-ness is totally off-putting. She managed to be overdone even with J.Crew. I guess she actually is very suitable for Victoria's Secret.

  15. I think she's gorgeous. I find it quite sad to see so many people on here badmouthing this woman that they've never met and clearly know nothing about. Have a heart and shut your mouths.

  16. You guys all sound stupid. 1.) No, Sienna and Marisa Miller are NOT sisters...one is American and the other is British...Was that not a clue??? and 2.) Marisa did not just up and decide to change her name her last name. Her first husband was named Jeff Miller, so therefore, just like a lot of women who marry and then become famous while using their husband's names, she decided to keep her married name even after they divorced. (Think Tina Turner, Demi Moore, etc.) Hope this helps...
