moonflower.
this month's cottage living had an article about moonflowers, which are vines that flower at night, and release this crazy sweet smell.
brian and i are looking for something to plant around the deck that will wrap up onto the lattice and give us some privacy around the hottub.
don't these seem ideal? privacy, prettiness, and good smellingness at night, when we'll most likely be in the HT.

We grew these last year from seeds and they were crazy. CRAZY! We made the mistake of having them a wee bit too close to the house and they're little viney fingers kept poking up into the shingles. They also tried to strangle an evergreen and I later caught them heading up the standing planter to get at my asparagus fern. The blossoms, however, were totally huge--as big as your face! Make sure whatever trellis you have is sturdy enough because they eventually toppled mine after a heavy rain.
