Hi - from your picture it looks like the couch is made out of microfiber/micro-suede or mohair velvet. You can google both to find out more info. Microfiber is really easy to take care of - you can rub lipstick on it and the fabric cleans up with water. I'm not sure about mohair, although I read it dries quickly, dirt can be shaken off, and the pile restored with a quick brushing. They both have a distinct feel, which some people like and some don't. The mohair looks exquisite to me - good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt looks a bit like velvet to me. We just got a chocolate brown velvet couch from Room & Board and I must say it's delicious! It's really soft and because it's a poly blend, it's said to wear really well.
ReplyDeletewe had a velvet sofa that was TERRIBLE when we had a cat. now we have a micro-suede which is not nearly as comfortable, but it'll do for now because every disgusting spot my children have ever put on it washes right off and the cat hair comes off cleanly with a lint roller brush thing.
ReplyDeleteI have a chocolate brown velvet sofa in my bedroom and my hubby and I fight over who gets to lie on it and watch TV
ReplyDeleteNo pets in the house here, love the luxury of velvet
Go for it
Love your blog
what did the cat hair do to the velvet. describe.
ReplyDeleteI have a very similiar couch made with microfiber. Love it! Pet hair and stains comes off pretty easy.
ReplyDeletevelvet is a very good fabric and has durability and comfort and ages gracefully. looks better when worn.
ReplyDelete3 cheers for velveet-a!
Where did you see the sofa. I want one!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a cotton velvet sofa, and it's wearing very well after 4 1/2 years. It's really so soft and if you get it pre-treated - stains are not an issue ( pet-free home though! ).
ReplyDeletemy boyfriend has a blue velvest sofa and matching chair. it is super comfortable. dog hair seems to vacuum off easily enough. however, the top and the back (areas that don't get much wear) are starting to look dusty even though it all gets vacuumed weekly.
