design star blahs
this season is horribly boring. and the judges seem to think so too. every week they tell the designers to take it up a notch, but they can't seem to pull anything together.
these were the best rooms from last night.
they had the daunting yet i would think so exciting challenge of a big white room to decorate.
i really like what jennifer did with the yellow walls and the blue furniture, but the little shelf back there would have best been left out all together, along with the icky coffee table - don't you think?
and the other room -- i dunno. the judges seemed to like it. its supposed to be a beach side cabana in mexico at night. obviously.

i just don't understand- there is a nationwide search for design talent and this is what we get?
ReplyDeletewhat's the deal? is this show considered way uncool and so young talent doesn't participate? does HGTV think that Americans don't have a sense of style and so we'll accept this (other HGTV programming makes me think yes...)?

this season really is terrible.
ReplyDeletei get so excited each sunday night when i remember it's on, and predictably (now), i am let down each week when they unveil their crap rooms.

I like the yellow wall treatment, but there's NO personality in that room. Was the other room a sensory deprivation chamber gone terribly wrong?
ReplyDeleteWhy not just go ahead and completely dumb it down? Next season, I predict: A Shot at Design Star with Tila Tequila. First challange: design a space using pig vaginas, condoms, and tattoo ink. Extra points for making it sexy.
ReplyDeleteand also: Tracee is horrible. did anyone notice how she was nodding and smiling when the judges said nasty things about the other competitors? i mean, i agree with the judges too but if i was another contestant i would have smacked her in the face. plus her outfit matched her room. boohiss times two.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to figure out the dumpy looking results as well. Perhaps they just don't know how to make anything without a big budget? HGTV is missing the mark in many ways with the product they are putting out. The results of all the shows look dorm room cheap. Its killing me. Maybe they can take them to a great flea market and let them loose if the budget continues to be so minimal.
ReplyDeleteAll of the "designers" are talentless, talk alot of crap and are completely unlikeable. I wouldn't let any of these crazies within an inch of my home. Absolutely useless. Most of them don't even know how to use an electric saw. The painting of that gorgeous wood table last week was hella wrong. Kick that crazed blonde Jennifer off the show aleady...and she's mean-spirited to boot. p.s. I LOVE your blog, love it!
