awwww! what a face!!!
ReplyDeletei dogsit a schnoodle mutt that i swear is the best dog on the planet. i love you, maggie junior.
ReplyDeleteyou are so well mannered and give the best high fives. plus you are a good runner. and small enough to be a good lap dog but not too small.
where was i? oh yes- schnauzers are great.
you can never talk about schnauzers too much. i'm currently fostering one who needs a good home, so if anyone is interested, let me know and i'll send you his profile. we have a schnauzer mix at home and they unfortunately don't get along :(
ReplyDeleteGreat dogs. Super smart. Feisty. Don't shed. And they have an adorable old man facial quality that I really appreciate.
ReplyDeleteI'm sold! I had a neighbor growing up that had one and he was a great schnauzer. I will have to try to remember his name....
ReplyDeleteI haven't met any schnauzers recently, but my childhood best friend had one that was super annoying! That said, I love annoying/hyper/crazy dogs. But I am a dog trainer...Whatever type of dog you decide on, be sure to look up their activity level to see if it matches your own. And crate training ROCKS.
ReplyDeleteNot true that they're not good with children. I'm sure that some aren't, but they all have individual personalities and needs, like all other dogs, and people for that matter :) All of the schnauzers I have had have been the best with kids.
ReplyDeleteThey do NOT shed. This is huge.
ReplyDeleteThe rub is they bark a lot. But with the right training, you can curb that instinct.
They do bark a lot, yes you can train them not too but in my experience I have found that a lot of the barking depends on the dog. My dogs (Shelties) are considered very vocal, yet one has never really barked that much at all. Schnauzers don't shed like a typical dog, but they do shed a little bit. They are very loyal and protective of their owners and they can get quite large. The only downer is that they can be a little stubborn but generally are a pretty good breed of dog. Good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite dogs is a schnoodle... a little less terrier than you get with the schnauzer and the bonus of non-shedding. But still has some spunk and that perfect face.
ReplyDeleteI don't know a thing but what a cutie!
ReplyDeleteStandards are very inteligent and good natured. Can be headstrong and a little scrappy. They do need a firm hand and a lot of attention. They were originally bred to be guard dogs and it shows. They can be very teritorial, but this does vary with bloodlines.
ReplyDeleteWhile they do not shed, they shoud be hand-stripped (not clippered which weakens the top coat) in areas with cold or wet winters.
Love mine and can't imagine having a different breed,
Breaks my heart to see such a beautiful dog with no home. It was so nice of you to feed him. Surely he could be a Good Luck Dog. :c)
