I can see why the sale went so well. I could have bought all of them if I was in the neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteFun stuff Jamie, I'm not at all surprised you sold out. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI love the name, I'm sure he'll live up to it.
A good groomer is worth their weight in gold. We left Jack fluffy for a while when he was little, his "big boy" haircut was probably around 9 months. I would think your groomer could modify the standard cut and leave Rowdy longer all over. They don't have to buzz their backs down close.
As for matting, it's hard to tell for a while. Their puppy coat is a little different, and clipping makes it less coarse over time. (it brings out the soft undercoat) Jack has very soft, almost cottony hair that tends to mat. Brushing helps a lot, but I'm bad about doing it. Alex's fur is not quite so fluffy, so he mats less unless he finds a spot and licks a bunch.
Again, SO excited for you. Puppies are certainly work, but also a ton of fun. Spoil him rotten!
Whoops, forgot a couple points. I would have him groomed regularly even in you leave him long. They can trim him up a little if he gets scraggly in places, plus they'll trim his nails and pull the hair out of his ears.
ReplyDeleteThey'll also shave out the hair between the pads on his paws (improving traction on tile and hardwood) and check his anal glands.
Also, once he's too big to wash in the sink it's nice to let someone else take over. They'll get any mats, blow him dry and give him back to you smelling good. Totally worth it.
I'm so sad I missed it ... it all looks great. So when do you want to come over to my house and help me decorate? :)
