scientific breakthroughs

By 3/16/2009

were made in my living room last nite.

baby wipes on microfiber couch = miracle.

we were trying to clean it with water, which just made stains worse. the water saturated the fabric too much, and left huge water rings, but the BABY WIPES! a little scrubbing, and the couch looks brand freaking new.

also - every sunday on oxygen - america's next top model marathons. all day long. is anyone else taking advantage of this wonderous happening?

  1. Baby wipes also work wonders on pretty white wool coats from J.Crew (and probably any where else, too). I was honestly getting ready to cut the sleeves into a 3/4 length, but the dear manager at the store handed me a wipe and the spot came out immediately!

  5. People who deal in vintage clothing and have seen the horrors of a bad dry cleaning job know that baby wipes can often be the very best remedy for stains that would otherwise seem completely daunting. (Wow. That's a long, awkward sentence.)

I am an ANTM junkie! I host viewings on Wednesday with pizza and wine. My favorite quote on the first show of this season was one of Tyra's brilliant remarks. "OBJECTS that are further away from the camera appear to be smaller than those closer to the camera." The OBJECT was the model's HEAD.

And, d'uh. It's not just a rule of photography, Tyra. The act of seeing is just like that in real life, too!

And what about Jay Manuel's insane Skeletor bicycling suit?! Gah! I love the show, too!

  6. Thanks for the tip. I need to get some. No babies here however there are enough stains from hubby and the two cats to make you think there are a few toddlers roaming around.

  8. Brills! I have 2 couches and two chairs with this incredibly-hard-to-clean fabric and this info made my morning! (I also heard these are wonderful for taking make-up off?)

Love ANTM btw - a fab induldence. :) Seriously, where on else where you find a girl who gets on a tv show and KNOWS from previous shows that there will most certainly be haircut makeovers -- and CRIES when they try to cut her hair? WTF?!)

  9. Howdy folks. A word about wipes! Having a home with babies (yes "S") AND white carpet/upholstry/walls.... I completely agree--they're a miracle! Try 'em on carpet spots!!! Heaven....
As time goes by, we learn a thing or two. What I've learned about the wipes is this:

    1. Use unscented. Trust.
    2. Don't buy any that contain moisturizers--I used it on a wall and it left a ghost of a mark.

Pick one that indicates it's intended for sensitive skin. They won't contain anything that'll leave a ghost after the wet spot dries, and it won't be smelly either.

They're really like magic. Esp on the carpets. It seems as if the resolve or other carpet cleaners "attract" more dirt to the whole area I was trying clean! Not so the wipes. And you can scrub as hard as you want.

  12. Baby wipes: Will Smith swears by them as a toilet paper replacement, too. Yes, for adults... Go into a house of any single gay guy in downtown Los Angeles and you'll find a box on the back of his toilet: trust.
