rowdy's current phase
destructiveness.
evidenced by this scene brian happened upon at the beach.
things to note:
downed triceratops to right of coffee table
rowdy cowering, yet still holding onto toy
dog leash in red, front and center, which had been stripped of all poop bags, which were shredded also.

What exactly did he massacre?
ReplyDeleteOMG that's so funny.
ReplyDeleteI've come home to scenes like that as well. My cats specifically enjoy unrolling full rolls of toilet paper.
Sounds like a case of separation anxiety. Our first dog did that for a long time. There are two ways to fix it: 1) Crate training. or 2) Get a buddy for him. We did both for ours & there were no more incidents involving destroyed toys/furniture/pillows/cushions/etc.
ReplyDeleteour beagle would do that if we left him out - in the crate he goes if we leave the house.
ReplyDeleteyet he still manages to pull over potted plants, chew holes in rugs and destroy anything plastic while we're home!
you must be so proud...:) frank can finally be left out of the crate but if he finds a House Beautiful or BHG magazine lying around he's all over it.
ReplyDeleteare you still at the beach??!!
WTF?r358920qy35kldsa;fjd = not fair
That is classic! So cute that he is still holding onto his toy amidst all of the destruction.
ReplyDeleteDid the triceratops have a squeaker in it? My dog (and my parents' dogs) love to rip toys apart and pull the squeakers out and chew/eat them. They eat the white fluff too....
(I've been reading your blog for a while - not sure how I found it but really enjoy it!)
LOL! Sorry, but his expression is so cute...hopefully he didn't destroy anything too terrible. =/ But still, so cute!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Boydie taught Rowdy his favorite trick. And how to cower and look guilty/cute when the game is up.
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow schnauzer owner, I know how it goes. Our Murphy gives us particular troubles whenever his schedule (or ours) is changed. Good thing they are so freaking cute.
ReplyDeleteIt's not separation anxiety, it's fun! If you train dogs to do this to their toys, then it's all good. Get stuffed animals at Goodwill on the cheap.
ReplyDeleteMost dogs have some kind of prey instinct and it's good for them to tear shit up.
Go Rowdy!
My friend the dog trainer has a cool idea to keep dogs busy... if your dog needs a job (most do... although I am not sure if Rowdy's kind is a "working" breed, but whatever...) She recommends getting rid of the feeding bowl. She told the owners to throw the dog's whole meal of kibble outside and the dog hunted it all piece by piece. Super entertaining for any dog who needs to "work". Give Rowdy a job. :)
(He's really cute, you know.)
oh my - bad doggy!
ReplyDeletemy puppy is in the same phase! :) SHoes, paper, toys, you name it, he shreds it.
ReplyDeleteI think Rowdy needs to write a blog. So adorable...and complex!
ReplyDeleteDo you think it is a weird schnauzer thing? I have a 'Ringo' in Oz and he is addicted to ripping up fluff, cardboard and tissues and he perches on top of the couch just like your Rowdy does.
