friends, it is with a touch of trepidation, some mild excitement and a lot of sunscreen that i leave now for bonnaroo. it will take us 2943 hours to get there and i'm hoping that time will include a burrito and the new dave matthews cd.

i'm leaving you in capable hands: my friend betsy, who blogs at the estate of things, is going to delight you in my absence.

betsy is a gypsy. she's tall and has a huge dog named potluck. she can sing and program computers, and she doesn't seem to need much sleep. she makes things like this and i like her a lot.

    oh good luck! i love bonnaroo (also the new dmb and burritos) so much. i've been the past three years, but i can't go this year because of a wedding. so sad. you're going to have so much fun! i'm jealous!

    You're going to BONNAROOOO? This is alarming news. I only went one summer but by the end of it I was barely human.

    Don't take two hits of acid from a hippie and put your hair into pigtails, only hold your hands like paws and announce to everyone that you are an actual bear and hang out all night with a man in black eyeliner who calls himself the Doom Clown. Because that happened to uh....someone else I know....
