more than a few things
rowdy's non beach life bores him
prowler remains alert and in charge of the household menagerie
i discovered this lamp in brian's mom's basement and invited it to come live with us. it needs a new shade. remind me where to find inexpensive drum shades?
making curtains for a client. maybe i need some?
ugh
i changed the shelves again. you can do it - steroids can help.
two things here:
1) OUR HOT TUB IS RUNNING. first time in 3 years. we bought it on craigslist and subsequently had to build a new deck, pass 4 acts in congress, and save our pennies. we got in it last night. delightful.
2) our neighbor's tree fell across our backyard. all the way across. very george of the jungle. insurance company isn't here yet to assess if it was an act of god - imagine.

I have two drum shades from Target that I LOVE, but haven't seen any good ones lately. It's hit or miss, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for a good 13 inch black drum shade, too, if you find them.
ReplyDeleteToo bad that tree didn't fall another direction and kill those roosters. I ran down your street the other day and heard them.
hahah erin i'm listening to them RIGHT NOW. i'm also watching the aviary that is developing on this tree. it's sort of amazing. possibly thinking about charging admission. that tiny bird has a yellow thing on his head!
ReplyDeleteHa. the backyard looks amazing this way.
ReplyDeleteI usually get drum shades from a TJ Maxx or Marshall's, around $10. I have yet to find a place online.
ReplyDeleteThat liberated lamp is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI want a hot tub. I second Target and TJ Maxx for cheap shades.
ReplyDeletelamp shades- http://www.lampsplus.com/Products/lamp-shades/
ReplyDeleteholy crap! that tree is so close. last year at this time the same thing happened to us only it actually crushed our house. on the day we moved in.
prowler is soooo beautiful.
Lowes Knows.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cat, gorgeous, I just came across your blog, happy to have found it.
ReplyDeleteThe lamp is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful, but I can't get past the Maine Coon: gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSweet basement find. I would hit some thrift stores to find some drum shades. I swear I see them in every one I go to.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is one serious glamour shot of your kitty.
I invented an amazingly ghetto ikea hack to get their shades to work on normal lamps- it involves zip ties and works really well after years of trying to make them stop wobbling. I am sure many of your readers will know exactly what I'm talking about!
ReplyDeleteLast month I was at the Crate and Barrel outlet here in Texas and I hit a mother-load of white drum shades for pennies on the dollar. Too bad I didn't need any, nor could I fathom anyone I know needing one...
ummm... I think that lamp needs something larger than the Target standard... maybe consider making your own????
Killer lamp--but thank God the tree didn't smash the hot tub.
ReplyDeletei think brian has been spending too much time in the sun....really starting to look rather dark.
ReplyDeleteTiny chair lives on....yea!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the hot water make you itch?
ReplyDeleteThe adjuster has to confirm that the tree wasn't diseased to the point that the owner should have known it was a hazard. Basically, that it was storm related.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what your budget is but www.shadesoflight.com has a variety of drum shades: pleated, textured, patterned, solid colors, etc.
