oh sweet glorious 69 degrees
it's unseasonably cool today and tomorrow in north carolina. it's spectacular. i have the windows wide open. rowdy has a beggin strip. the tree man is coming to finally get the tree out of the backyard today. life is going ok.
i have an 11 year high school reunion this weekend. i'm wearing white jeans. when people ask what i do, i'm going to say I BLOG, and you?
i just finished reading outlander last night. do you know about this series? a friend recommended it as the 'twilight for grown women', so i said yes please and eagerly dug in. about 100 pages in, I asked erin WHERE ARE THE VAMPIRES? and she said there aren't any?
huh? what there is is time travel, a perfect love story and LOTS of HOT and HEAVY action involving hardness under kilts. need i say more?

Jamie, you should read the 'Fever' series by Karen Moning. I'm completely addicted.
ReplyDeleteGood thing about outlander is that its a six book series with another one coming out soon. I may have planned my honeymoon around it...
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago was my ten year high school reunion. Since I am a stay at home mom I was like "Great, how can I make myself sound more interesting?" Instead of worrying about it I got drunk instead. Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteHmm may have to try that Outlander book, as I've been holding back on Twilight.
ReplyDeleteLOL Jackie.
Jamie, don't forget business cards (unless you don't want those crazies to find you)
Yes, I'm on book 6 right now! Warning--book 2 isn't as good, but it's a bit of a bridge book for the plot in book 3. Just plow through book 2 to get to the rest. Then, nirvana.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Don't hate me if I steal that line please.
ReplyDeleteI actually think the Sookie Stackhouse series (aka the books that the HBO series "True Blood" is based on) is more like Twilight for grown women. I read "Dead Until Dark" and then tried to read "New Moon" and had a hard time transitioning back to PG-rated vampires.
ReplyDeleteVampires, no. Ridiculous plot with ridiculous romance (and ridiculous action in outlander), YES!
ReplyDeleteI put the audiobook on hold at the library...be jealous SASSENACH!
Loved that Outlander book! I stayed up nearly all night reading that book - didn't want to go to work, wanted to keep reading!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the feedback, Jules, about book 2 - I haven't been able to get through it. Will give it another try so I can finish the series.
Enjoy! (love your blog, btw!)

The Outlander series is one of my all time favorite group of books! Just wait till you decide to reread the entire series in a couple of years...it'll be like you never read it. There are so many details you don't pick up the first time! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI loved Outlander but it’s a little exhausting to read because the books are so action packed!
ReplyDeleteI also liked the Sookie Stackhouse series (by Charlaine Harris, the first is Dead Until Dark.) It’s a vampire series for adults, not teens like Twilight is. The show True Blood is based on the series and is pretty good too.
I really love true blood. i thought it was kind of ridiculous at first but now I'm totally hooked. I might need to try out Outlander and the Dead Until Dark series to soap up my reading list.
ReplyDeleteOh, and it was 108 degrees at my house today. So go to hell - 69 is like chilly sweater weather and sounds amazing.
I got a crush on a minor Outlander character, so I read his spin-off book. Turn's out, my hottie's gay!Go figure.
ReplyDeleteAt least I can imagine that I have a shot with Edward. Or maybe the other odds are better....
Which one?!!
ReplyDeleteSookie Stackhouse is Twilight for grown women - with a little trashy romance novel thrown in - I cannot believe I have read 8 of those books ! But after watchin Tru Blood I bought the whole lot and devoured them all in about 5 days. Oh my
ReplyDeleteThe Outlander series are by far my favorite books I have EVER READ. I stumbled upon them about 3 years ago in my grandmothers house and have since read the series 2 full times and I am just about to finish the 3rd go around JUST in time for the 7th book to come out!
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with Jamie Fraser and sometimes find myself asking my BF, "Why cant you be more like Jamie..." He thinks I am crazy.
I just happened on your blog somehow thru The Lettered Cottage blog. I'm reading the Outlander series too! Again, serendipitously (is that a word?) I just happened on the first book in a second hand book store and fell in love! The rest of the series is just as good and I think a new book is coming out sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog also,
Susan H.
