i LOVE it. and i find it endlessly frustrating that this is the type of bathroom that consistently gets gutted by house flippers who replace it with those fugly tumbled tan stone tiles that instantly look dirty. preservationists would say this bathroom is "of its time". indeed.

I have a pink & grey bathroom and it's in perfect condition - granted, I wish it was all white subway tiles and a marble floor but I do live in a 50's house so I go back & forth on what I should do - I like how I've decorated it but I feel like I'm always apologizing for it. HEART your blog!
I too have an old school 1940's bathroom. I love it, but it is showing signs of wear. It frustrates me to no end that the only solution I keep hearing is "gut it"..
I can't stand it when I see this sort of "old fashioned/ugly/out-of-date/grandma-y" type of room poo-poo'd and then see it remodeled into something more au courant. That bathroom is gorgeous exactly as it is. (That shower curtain is fabulous--wonder where it's from?)
I would DIE to have a'50s pink and gray bathroom in perfect condition. So would the folks at savethepinkbathrooms.com. Please don't apologize for it, Bill. Just get new friends who like it :)
Don't gut your bath. Re-do with period original fixtures. You can still find them! It'll be an adventure to restore it to its original state.
