country living

By 12/17/2008
earlier this year, brian and i considered buying some land in the middle of nowhere with a little house on it. it had a pond, and trees and animals and room to garden and a wooden fence.

we didn't go through with it, but this morning, i woke up wishing we did.

it's a great time to buy now - brian meares, i would make you dinner every night here.

or here

or even here

christmas time is here.

By 12/17/2008

last night brian and i watched a charlie brown christmas in the kitchen while we were cooking dinner. i'm not one to watch things like that, but it was that or biggest loser...

it was so much funnier and greater than i remembered. we danced in the kitchen and laughed out loud. it was my first real christmas moment of the season.

name that look.

what would you call this 'style'?

ok, now do this one too

and this one

i think it's what i want out of life, but i'd like to have a name for it first.

christmas sprung

By 12/15/2008
booya! i got a tiny tree at the farmer's market for $10, and a stick in the front yard for free.

my grandma made the bird. isn't he snazzy in his metallicness?

this is insane.

the things i make.

as a pillow follow up, i made a few more things with our digital print shop.

{watch this NOT AT WORK, or around people who find OFFENSIVE things OFFENSIVE, or if you don't have an extremely IRREVERENT sense of humor. there - that's fair warning}

i shrieked when i opened the box.

diy ornaments

By 12/12/2008

apparently, we're opting out of christmas this year at wayland drive. our decorations consist of a stuffed reindeer holding onto the curtain pull, and a dog stocking on the mantel (anna!).

so i'm thinking maybe this weekend i'll make some of these, and hang them from the ceiling in the kitchen. 1) dogproof. 2) catproof. 3) festive as all get out!

with 14 shopping days left...

coffee tables

By 12/05/2008
i'm having serious thoughts about this coffee table from target for the basement. i need to throw in some shiny. you can't beat $139 + a 15% discount + free shipping.

but there's also this guy from cb2. he's low, but very good looking. more $$ too.

have you met either? thoughts?

{i've almost fully developed my formula for room decorating. it consists of 1 part seagrass/jute, 1 part lucite, 1 part shiny, 1 part glass, 1 part white modern and 1 part leather.}

if santa wanted to drop these down the chimney, i'd provide a nice soft cushion for them to fall on.

treehouse

By 12/05/2008

the best part about our bedroom is that its on the third floor, high in the trees. the big window makes us feel like we sleep in a treehouse. {and it's prime for bird watching}
