when all you wanna do is vacate
i've been in aspen the last week, staying in my boyfriend's childhood home - a log cabin built in the 60s, and then added to in the 70s, and again the 80s, so i've got mountain living on the mind (read: i want to get my hands on a major makeover).
first, let me say, that even here, with wifi on life-support and the real world sort of blanketed in steady snow, it's hard to keep anything front of mind other than the monstrous clusterfuck our petulant, megalomaniac of a president is creating in the world; however, sharing pretty things and my penchant for aspirational living -- a bit of levity as a brief respite from the heavy hotmess going on around us -- is what keeps me grounded. so, let's talk about this david netto project, and how it's a beach house reno, but i think it would parlay perfectly into an alpine retreat.
i'm learning after having friends in and out of here the past week that second homes need to be simple. friendly, functional, and fun is the key. turnkey for showing up with a crew. i think this inspired hamptons cottage fits the bill in a big way.

First, thank you for acknowledging the cluster. I know it's risky for businesses in more conservative states. Second, thank for you for sharing this lovely distraction. The baby/brownie/ice cream art trio made me smile, and I spent at least 60 seconds staring at the orange bedroom wondering why there were floating tomatoes before I realized they were a lamp.
ReplyDeleteI say a big FINALLY! can we talk about the orange baby in the room and figure out how to how fuck the cluster. BTW, I grew up in Oklahoma (one of the now reddest of states) and am 67 years old. Good for you for stepping to up the plate, with chocolate, and saying what many of us are thinking. All the best to you as you figure out how you want to live your life being your best you!
ReplyDeleteAmen. I've been wonderin'.... Thank you!
