my friends Matt and Nicole are the proprietors of Raleigh's newest boutique hotel, guest house, and they graciously extended an invite to several of my friends and me this weekend to enjoy the house with them before it opens for online booking. what. a time. a true indulgence - it was a little staycation in raleigh, and such a lovely experience to share it with the owners. we filled the 8 bedrooms with lots of laughs, some really loud 90s music and a contagious optimism for the current vibe in raleigh. they are opening their online booking later this week, and I couldn't be more convinced that this is the spot to be. a gorgeous restored historic home with 8 thoughtfully furnished rooms, several communal spaces for socializing, and a beautiful back garden for lounging, plus the MOST comfortable mattress I've ever slept on - treat yourself to night away from the everyday at Matt and Nicole's magical new spot.

remember all those cropped wool pants I dug out of the closet in aspen? they're tad's mom's - she literally left a treasure trove of vintage finds that I'm slowly working into my wardrobe. these rust colored ones are giving me autumnal life, and I've got a gray, navy, and khaki pair ready to move into rotation. Asher stole/borrowed the pink ones, and I can't wait to her angle on our new vintage-aspen lewk.

I've got a few small spaces in the kondo that need some love - the laundry room being a total eyesore right now that can use all the help it can get. I brought home this vintage rug, thinking it would do the trick, but it's just a touch too big. my loss, maybe your laundry room's gain. it's so soft and the color palette is perfection.

last night I saw the new queen documentary and it had me grinning from ear to ear when I left the theatre. I'm so glad I learned some of the history of the band, and of Freddy mercury. I think it's important to layer the story over the music. it all makes sense now - that it never really needed to make sense.

I've had a consistent girl crush on Sara Kate little for a long time. her shop in Oklahoma City seems like a jewel box of pretty little bits. I haven't been able to go, but I did send tad in for a FaceTime visit so I could virtually geek out on her color-filled world. I love following her IG feed for an insta-dose of happiness, and always leave inspired.

I really enjoyed a look into Emily Schoen's home - featured on the everygirl. she's the Visual Director and Operations Manager at The Maryn and her style is fresh, fun, sophisticated and extra-achievable. best kind in my opinion!

our new downtown urban outfitters is open, and I feel very excited about that. I have no problem killing an hour at urban on a Sunday afternoon, wandering through the funny picture frames, sushi cat keychains, and generally seeing what the young people are doing. I found an armful of things to try on, and there were some real winners, including this skirt, and this jumpsuit.

whelp, i moved in kondo le tig this week and Jesus sat the sun down in a right pretty way over my new home at the end of a very long, very sucky move-in day.

I'm feeling this new phone case collab with baublebar and off my case. I don't think I'll get my name on a case, but I have a few ideas up my sleeve of what might be fun to personalize one with....

tad was on a motorcycle trip in the nc mountains last weekend, and just happened upon a guy doing the same - who's from raleigh, and makes really dope things out of concrete, like these chairs! check out his ig account

instagram also wanted me to know about Brooklyn artist tom fruin who created this water tower out of plexiglass and steel. Situated on the rooftop of 20 Jay Street the sculpture is viewable from the parks and streets of Dumbo, the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, FDR Drive and Lower Manhattan. The prime viewing locations are the Brooklyn Bridge Park at Washington Street, and the Manhattan Bridge bike path.

amidst all the mess of unpacking this week, I found solace in my new closet and the new carpet in the master bedroom. this whole big white box modern experiment is still very unfamiliar to me, but I feel warm and cozy in this room. there's comfort in a job well done, and the experience of working with California closets, and eatman's was honestly the most reassuring, professional and satisfying part of this whole process so far.

I was a reasonably solid fan of the first season, but I have to tell you, I didn't think I was going to make it through the second. about 20 minutes into the first episode, I just wasn't feeling the amount of suffering. a mass hanging, hand-burning? ugh. just too much darkness for me sometimes. I paused there, went scooting for a few days and picked back up, ready to bear the burden and it lightened up a bit, thankfully. I cruised on through the second season in about 3 days, and literally finished the day before dr. ford's hearing. what a lens to look at real life through, coming straight out of fantasy into reality. too close for comfort if you ask me, I'd like to pause real life and go scoot for a bit as well.

madewell's having a pretty big sale (20% - 30% off everything) and I've got my eye on this starry sweatshirt. pretty cute right? and while we're considering, Neiman's is offering 25% off everything too, so why not pick up some classic sneaks, and these jeans I just got in black (they're seriously skinny-making) and a cool sweater for fall. you deserve it.

my local post-up spot in raleigh is hummingbird - have you tried it? it's open super-early until cocktail hour late, so you can always count on it for a good breakfast and super strong latte, a late lunch that hits the spot, or a fun dinner hang for a big group. they're launching a new fall menu this week with all sorts of deliciousness, including a tasty fall drink menu.

we just released a new batch of rugs, and i can't stop thinking about this one. almost daily, I've thought about pulling it off the site, because I *think* I want to try it for my closet, but there's no final decisions on wallpaper so i. just. can't.

and speaking of new batches, how about some new silk robes? I always order twice as many as we end up listing, because every friend wants one, and just the other day, when we were photographing these (at hummingbird!) two ladies having lunch wanted to buy them. worry not, there are still plenty of pretty ones on the site. I wear mine with a white t-shirt and black high-waisted jeans. Anna's on the lookout for a cute black body-con dress to go under her's, and Jessica's been wearing hers with a white tee and a regular wash denim.

I'm pretty excited to head to high point next weekend for furniture market. first stop will be the arteriors showroom, because I've got some rad stuff I've seen online in mind for the kondo, and I can't wait to check it out in person. barstools, a light for over the dining room table, and a few sconces are on the list.
