on-the-go travel essentials
with a ton of travel coming up the next few months, i stopped by walgreens to stock up on spring travel essentials. beauty essentials, now that's a stretch - i won't even go there - let's just stick with 'trying to look your best' essentials (including tanned, hydrated, pedicured, and coiffed) after 9 hours on a plane.
i can't aim for beautiful while trying not to lose my phone in a cab, schlepping body bags full of textiles through airports, and never being able to find a hotel iron that works, but i can at least have pretty toes and hydrated skin thanks to some of my fave on-the-go finds from walgreens.
neutrogena makeup remover wipes are my faves, especially in the calming lavender (available at walgreens).
burt's bees champagne lip gloss - it's the perfect flossy pink with just the right sheen (available at walgreens).
chanel illuminating powder and bobbi brown bronzer are perfect complexion corrector plus a bit of colors for washed out worries.
there never seems to be enough time to grab a pedicure before we depart, and with sandal weather already here, an Amopé Pedi Perfect Wet & Dry Rechargeable Foot File is a must for on-the-fly pedicures. it makes getting your toes did (by yourself!) quick and easy in your hotel room. i was excited to give it a try on my latest trip to london and will definitely be packing it for our mexico buying trip later this week.
loreal's sublime bronze wipes are my favorite in the self-tanning department, and believe me, i've been at the fake-tanning since i was right out of the womb, so trust me on this. the Amopé Pedi Perfect is the trick for exfoliating so you don't end up with the dreaded oompa loompa orange heels. since the Amopé is wet or dry, you can use it in the shower regularly or for a quick refresh before you tan or start your pedicure (both available at walgreens)
and btw, you can save $10 off an Amopé Pedi Perfect Wet & Dry when you shop with your walgreens rewards card this month. you can clip the coupon online or find it in the walgreens monthly saving book.
i always pick up a fresh can of travel size hair spray and dry shampoo, and bring my oribe texturing spray. bobbi brown mask and biomiracle masks are musts for moisturizing tired skin after long flights. i'm really into the collagen masks right now (which you may be too well aware of if you're one of the lucky few who get snapchatted a pic at bedtime. it's scary, i'm told).
surf spray is always a must for tousled up hair, especially if you have to wash during the trip -- i try to avoid! i usually shampoo twice a week -- but when i do, it's been dear clark's resurrecting wash because you use just a dollop on your roots and it is the. best. smelling. ever.
with all our spring on-the-go essentials packed, we're off for a month of travel - next stop mexico city and oaxaca!

Can we talk about those adorable sandals? How can I get those!?
ReplyDeleteCome onnnn. You're advertising portable foot shavers? And you wonder why your popularity is waning.
ReplyDeleteI love your design aesthetic and talent... Not interested in what cheesy company is paying you to hawk drug store nonsense. You are better than this!

DeleteI realize you are trying to take things to the next level, and truly, many appreciate what you bring to the blogosphere and to the Raleigh design scene! You've asked for honest feedback from readers in the past, so whether you want it or not, I have to say that this post just feels really startling on a blog that has previously managed to remain what seems to be refreshingly genuine and authentic compared to many of your contemporaries who seem to "sell out" on the reg. Whether you truly feel that the Amope foot tool is the ultimate beauty tool or not, the post comes off disingenuous and kind of cheesy. As you said, your business is doing very well, and your brand integrity is clearly important to you, so I suppose it's surprising (and a bit of a bummer) to see you going down this road at this juncture. All of that said, best of luck with the move, and can't wait to check out the new space.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie - Thanks for all the free, creative content you put out there in the world. I can only imagine how much work it takes. As someone who generally gets paid for the work I do, I am very happy to see that you too are getting paid for your work. Bravo. As for that foot tool, I didn't know such a thing existed - ha! Have fun in Mexico.
